Job summary

We are seeking to recruit an assistant psychologist to work in our team of Clinical and Forensic Psychologists. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work within our secure hospital which provides both low and medium secure services providing medium and long-term treatment and input to patients with mental health issues, personality disorder and learning disability. In addition, there will be the potential to contribute to the delivery of community based forensic services.

We will be holding a group interview for the post on Friday 18th June 2021, and individual interviews on Monday 21st June 2021. Please ensure you are available on these dates prior to applying for the role. Please see additional documentation regarding interview processes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be involved in the completion of administrative tasks for the psychology department, desk-based tasks such as file reviews, the delivery of psycho-education and some treatment groups, individual work with patients, the administration and interpretation of psychometrics, and some audit work, amongst other things.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and have a high level of organisational skill, an ability to manage a demanding workload with competing priorities, and have a particular interest in working with a forensic population. You will support the work of the qualified team, clinically and administratively. You will need to be a keen team-player, have good IT skills and exceptional communication abilities.

A degree level qualification (BSc or BA) accredited by the BPS is essential for this post.

  • To assist the psychology team in gathering and recording clinical information to inform assessments and interventions
  • To support registered psychologists in their delivery of interventions, including undertaking organisational and clinical administrative tasks.
  • May assist in clinically related audits, surveys, collation and analysis of statistics/information
  • To work independently according to a plan agreed with a registered psychologist and within the overall framework of the Trusts policies and procedures
