Job summary
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, hardworking and motivated individual to join our team within a busy Intestinal Rehabilitation Unit , managing patients with severe intestinal failure, many of whom are living with stoma and fistula and requiring long term parenteral nutrition.
The Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) is part of the multidisciplinary team and plays a vital role within the team, providing holistic, patient- centred care which isplanned and directed by health care professionals.
Under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse (RN), midwife or nurse associate (RNA) the HCSW will undertake a range of core clinical skills and depending on the area worked may include specific clinical skills relevant to the speciality

The post holder is expected to cover the duties of other HCSW colleagues within the range of the post holder's knowledge and skillsTo achieve this, the HCSW will:Undertakes a range of delegated clinical care duties in hospital, community or other settings.Records patient observations and changes to patients clinical conditions..Follow all London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) policiesand provide a safe and person-centred environment for the treatment of patients.
Main duties of the job
Provide reassurance and support to patients and carers/family.
Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and records maintained.
Report any concern regarding patient care.
Be able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and able to adhere to them.
At the direction of the registered nurse participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care.
Serve drinks and meals to patients and to give assistance to those patients requiring help.
Assist in bed making and the disposal of soiled linen.
Chaperone patients as necessary.
Undertake the recording of temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate and pulse oximetry, also fluid input and output, and report findings to the nurse in charge of patient care.
Collecting and testing specimens as required and reporting abnormalities.
Ensure safekeeping of patient's property and valuables within Trust guidelines
Work collaboratively with others in the ward to ensure that patient's needs are meet.
Be aware of your competence and acknowledge your own boundaries asking for assistance as required.
Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations
