Senior Theatre/Recovery Nurse/ODP

Job summary
As a member of the maternity theatre team, you must be able to perform the tasks of theatre scrub and recovery nurse, supporting the surgeon and other members of the multidisciplinary team
To act as a team leader to identified group of staff, monitoring and documenting the development of their clinical skills
Be able to scrub independently and contribute to smooth running of the theatres list and recover women in recovery area as Band 6
To establish, lead and maintain high standard of pre/peri and postoperative care
To undertake Obstetric recovery training within 3 months if you have no recovery experience (1 week refresher training only for those who have worked in this area)
Be responsible for the safe use of complex theatre equipment and ensuring that all equipment at work areas is ready for use
Follow process of reporting if equipment is faulty or damaged. Responsible for reporting low stock and non-stock supplies that needs ordering and arranging servicing of said equipment both routine and urgent
Be responsible for the own continuing specialist professional development
In order to meet the needs of the Trust's services you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work
Main duties of the job
Act as patient advocate in line with the NHS plan and to actively apply in depth knowledge of holistic/ socio-economic and cultural aspects of the care to clients within your specific speciality, acting as a role model and resource for patients, relatives and staff
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, actively seeking evidence based practice which will support clinical outcomes as appropriate
Ensure that midwifery and nursing documentation is maintained to the Trust standard (including electronic records) and implement clinical audit of records to measure and evaluate care planning
Be aware of and have willingness to champion current trends and developments in theatre practice and in the NHS. Accountable for continue professional development of self
Support in ensuring the provision of a suitable, clean, uncluttered, safe environment for the physical and psychological well-being of others and patients. Support in Identifying clinical risks and escalating appropriately to managers in order to take action in accordance with the trust's Risk Management Policy
Work in partnership with support staff to ensure that care, treatment and service needs are met, ensuring that a standard approach to the delivery of excellent patient care
- Provide information and support to other departments as appropriate, following consultation with members of the multi-disciplinary team
