Job summary
The Band 6 Orthodontic Therapist will play a key role within the Head and Neck Division at Northwick Park Hospital, delivering high-quality orthodontic care under the direction of a Consultant Orthodontist. The post holder will manage a specialist clinical caseload, assist in treatment planning, and carry out non-complex orthodontic procedures. In addition to direct patient care, the role involves supporting the wider dental team through supervision, training, and service development. The Orthodontic Therapist will contribute to maintaining clinical governance standards, promoting evidence-based practice, and ensuring the safe and effective use of resources. This is a patient-facing role requiring strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Main duties of the job

Deliver specialist orthodontic therapy interventions under consultant direction.

Assess and treat patients with complex orthodontic and health needs.

Implement and monitor care plans for orthodontic procedures.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.

Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to dental nurses and students.

Act as a specialist resource for colleagues, patients, and carers.

Participate in service development and quality improvement projects.

Support and ensure compliance with clinical governance and audit programs.

Promote and apply evidence-based practice in clinical care.

Ensure appropriate stock levels and cost-effective use of materials and resources.

Maintain a safe clinical environment adhering to infection control, fire safety, and COSHH guidelines.

Assist in complex procedures and ensure patient safety throughout treatment.

Manage site operations including appointment scheduling and failed appointment monitoring

Participate in team building and effective communication within the multidisciplinary team.

Comply with GDC registration requirements and complete mandatory training and CPD.

Process and manage dental radiographs and related equipment.

Support in the handling of administrative duties such as referrals, filing, and transport arrangements.

Adhere to safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults
