Are you an experienced pharmacist with a passion for antimicrobial stewardship and infection management? We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Lead Pharmacist - Anti-infectives to drive excellence in antimicrobial use, optimise patient care, and contribute to strategic healthcare improvements for the treatment of infections.
The previous postholder has been successfully appointed to the position of Principal Pharmacist - Antimicrobials & HIV, and we now have an opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking pharmacist to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and innovate within our Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme, working with members of the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobial Stewardship as well as working closely with other multidisciplinary specialists treating infections. As deputy to the Principal Pharmacist - Antimicrobials and HIV, you will play a pivotal role in promoting the antimicrobial stewardship agenda, implementing strategies for appropriate use of anti-infectives and improve patient outcomes.
Main duties of the job
- To lead, deliver, develop, manage and evaluate anti-infective treatments and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives alongside the Principal Pharmacist - Antimicrobials & HIV and Consultant Microbiologists in accordance with appropriate Trust and Hospital objectives.
- To support the provision of a safe, efficient and cost-effective use of anti-infective treatments within the Trust.
- To provide professional leadership for, and management of the pharmacy staff working within anti-infective roles.
- To lead on providing a framework for the provision of a safe, effective and appropriate anti-infective treatments alongside the Principal Pharmacist - Antimicrobials & HIV.
- To be responsible for the education and training of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals on anti-infective treatments and antimicrobial stewardship.
- To develop and maintain consistently high-quality pharmaceutical advice on anti-infective treatments and antimicrobial stewardship.
- To lead and be a role model, as a senior pharmacist and for antimicrobial stewardship.
- To lead on the strategic development of antimicrobial stewardship initiatives alongside the Principal Pharmacist - Antimicrobials & HIV and Microbiology Consultants.
- To report on anti-infective prescribing and ensure cost-effective anti-infective usage across the Trust.
