Job summary
Your role will involve supporting the administrative services manager in the day to dayrunning of the administrative service.The Administration Coordinator is the first point of contact for patients and visitors who arereferred or admitted to the Accident & Emergency Department or who may be seekinginformation on patients who are in the main hospital.A key part to this role will be to ensure an excellent level of customer service andattention to detail is delivered throughout the team.This role provides the administration/clerical function for the department as well as theTrust. This includes the electronic admission and discharge of patients treated.The post holder will be available to work a 24 hour rotational shift pattern, with theappropriate breaks.The role of the Administration Coordinator includes the accurate and timely input of theclinical data into the Cerner system.The post holder will adhere to Trust policy with regards to the sensitive information thatpatients are providing and the sensitive information held with regards to them.The post holder will work at any of the Trust's sites however this will in the main be atEaling Hospital.The post holder will be expected to work across the UTC and ED floor providingadmonitive support.The Administration Coordinator is required to work flexibly within the post to achieve therole outcome
Main duties of the job
Work as part of a team.? Work flexibly across both ED and UTC to ensure administration rotas are optimized.? Provide and receive routine information with regards to patients (for example fromGPs) requiring tact and discretion, using persuasive skills with awareness of theTrust and Caldicott guidelines.? Deal with enquiries from patients, medical staff and the general public in aprofessional and co-operative manner.? Have a professional telephone manner toward patients/relatives and other staffmembers.? Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and health servicebusinesses in accordance with Trust Confidentiality Policy and the Data ProtectionAct.? The Administration Coordinator will from time to time be the first point of contactwhen dealing with bereaved family and friends, this will require a great deal ofdiscretion, tact and compassion.? The Administration Coordinators are exposed to distressing information withregards to complex clinical conditions and treatments carried out on the patients
