Job summary

This is a developmental role. The trainee will work towards progression into the post of Registered Nurse through successful completion of the Registered Nurse Degree apprenticeship training programme which includes registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. They will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and proficiencies related to the role of a Registered Nurse within clinical practice and through completion of the RNDA training programme. This will involve working in a range of care settings to deliver person centred care.

Main duties of the job

The RNDA will be based at LNWH as a paid employee whilst undertaking the adult/child nurse degree apprenticeship programme, which combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers. The trainee will gain a wide exposure to health and care practice setting in order that they are able to fulfil the learning outcomes and proficiencies of the RNDA programme.

At the end of the programme, the RNDA will be equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes, and behaviours relevant to employment as a Registered Nurse and will work to a nationally recognised code of conduct.

1 The training programme prepares the RNDA for the role of the Registered Nurse, in the promotion of health, the prevention of ill health and the delivery of holistic care. Holistic care involves the consideration of the physical, psychological and public health needs; learning disabilities, social, economic, spiritual and other factors in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care delivery.

2 The overall outcome from the training programme is a registered nurse that is fit to practise in a wide range of care settings and is equipped with the specific knowledge, skills and capabilities for registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

3 The learner works towards the Nursing & Midwifery Council's (NMC) 7 platforms for registered nurses.
