You will be part of a team of qualified dental nurses providing nursing andadministration support for the clinical team. This includes Consultants, Specialists, Therapist and Hygienist. The post holder must hold the NEBDN National Certificate for Dental Nurses and registered with the General Dental Council as a Dental Nurse. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families. The post holder will liaise and assist the Dental Nurse Manager to maintain performance and ensure efficient service delivery. Respect patients individually and maintain privacy and dignity. Support thesenior staff in providing a unified approach to high standards of patient care
Main duties of the job
o Provide an aseptic environment for all clinical procedures. Ensure all areas are clean, tidy, and clutter-free thus maintaining a safe environment.o Ensure equipment / instruments are stored correctly in marked clean and dirty zones and making sure all needed equipment available for the session.o Ensure patient notes are available, read notes and anticipate what equipment, instruments and materials are required for each treatment episode.o Liaise with clinician to ensure that you have taken account of the complexneeds of the patient, i.e., medical history, physical / learning disabilities, level of anxiety and use appropriate interpersonal skills.o Assist in complex procedures and support clinician in the management ofpatient.o Establish and maintain patient and operator safety during clinical procedures.o Ensure procedures on mixing, storing, disposal of dental materials to specific requirements are all in place.o Ensure safe handling of sharps, drugs, harmful corrosive materials, wastemercury /amalgams and clinical waste.o Ensure compliance in relation to infection control, fire safety, COSHHregulations, health, and safety, and managing aggression.o Ensure equipment is maintained and in working order. Report any deviation to Dental Nurse Manager.o Check emergency drugs and associated BLS equipment available and valid for use.o Support and implement training if appropriate for junior nurses in procedures on your site.
