A truly unique opportunity to work at St Mark's Hospital, The National Bowel Hospital, has arisen. We are currently recruiting a full-time band 8a Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) pharmacist. If you are looking to embed current clinical knowledge, gain new skills and experiences, while working with an internationally renowned gastroenterology multidisciplinary team then this is the job for you.
Main duties of the job
Full training and support will be provided not only from pharmacy professionals but from other professionals working within the IBD multidisciplinary team. We are looking for someone who has good experience within these specialist clinical fields, and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team and as an individual. You will need to have excellent communication, clinical and negotiation skills, as well as experience providing training and education to a range of healthcare professionals. Experience in managing individuals or team(s) is also an advantage.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in weekend (Saturday and Sundays), late duty and bank holiday rota.

Job responsibilities
The post holders main responsibilities will include:
- Provide outpatient clinic commitments including participating in the MDT new starter biologic clinic and eventually be trained to lead the clinic independently, and also the pharmacy-led small molecule clinic
- Develop protocols and guidelines involving key stakeholders
- Education and Training to the St Marks team and the wider pharmacy department
- To provide a consistently highly specialist pharmaceutical service to Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients seen at St Marks Hospital
- Lead the pharmacy services to IBD, in conjunction with the lead IBD Pharmacist
- Deputise for the lead IBD Pharmacist in their absence when necessary
- Liaise with homecare companies and CCGs on the provision of biological medication to IBD patients
- Work closely with IBD team to improve the homecare service for our patients.
- Identifies training needs and ensures the delivery of core education and training of healthcare professionals within St Marks, the Pharmacy department and the wider Trust
- Undertake audit and service development to further improve the pharmacy service to St Marks IBD patients
- Provide a clinical pharmaceutical service to allocated inpatients on ward(s)
- Act as a support to the specialist intestinal rehabilitation pharmacists as needed.
