Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated junior nurse to come and join the team based on the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit at Northwick Park Hospital. Opened in 2012 we currently see around 80-90 patients per day. Our service aims to provide same day emergency care for those patients attending with undifferentiated medical conditions thereby reducing hospital admissions and reducing the pressure on the Emergency Department.

We are looking for a nurse who is able to work in a fast paced environment and enjoys being part of a larger multi-disciplinary team. You will need to display excellent communication skills and be able to deliver high quality care. You will be supported on shifts by the advanced clinical practitioner team.

Our shift patterns consist of overlapping 12-hour shifts (08:00-20:30 and 09:45-22:15) weekdays and 08:30-21:00 on weekends and bank holidays. There are no night shifts.

We offer a supportive atmosphere as well as access to training and educational opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a team member taking responsibility for the assessment of patient care needs and also ensure implementation and evaluation of effective programmes of care, maintaining and promoting standards of care. They will work collaboratively with junior and senior members of the multidisciplinary team in supporting the principles of same day emergency care. They will ensure that they keep up-to-date with skills and knowledge related to the specialism of same day emergency care.
