An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven and multiskilled individual to join our growing Radiopharmacy department. You will be joining our team of hardworking Radiopharmacists, Physicists, and Medical Technical Officers aiding in facilitating the grand opening of what is set to be London's largest and brand new, state-of-the-art Radiopharmacy. With our evolving portfolio of customers around the UK and the vast responsibilities that come with maintaining a Radiopharmacy, this role will provide endless scope for personal training and development, as well as progression into different aspects of Medical Physics.

You will be responsible for providing scientific support to the Radiopharmacy unit alongside the Operational Manager and Deputy Production Manager and ensuring that all practices and procedures are followed in line with local and national guidelines, to provide a safe and comprehensive preparative service to the Trust. Full training will be provided to the post holder to ensure they have a complete understating of your post requirements. The post holder will work very closely with both the production team, and QA team and have line management responsibility to a Band 5 or 6 technician.

Main duties of the job

To participate in the preparation and supply of radiopharmaceuticals to the Trust Nuclear Medicine service and external customers, ensuring a high quality service is provided at all times.

To release manufactured radiopharmaceuticals for clinical use under the arrangement of the unit's "Specials" manufacturing licence.

To ensure that all activities undertaken by all staff within the unit meet current legislation such as GMP/GDP, GCP, Medicines Act, H & S at Work Act, COSSH, and that all work documentation and procedures are accordingly being followed.

To be responsible for ensuring that the stock control system and control of sundry items is suitably and satisfactorily operating at all times to ensure smooth running of the radiopharmacy operations.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • MPharm, MRPS, or other Science degree with advanced qualification in radiopharmacy/nuclear medicine.
  • Specialist higher Diploma (Masters) in technical services (e.g. National course in Pharmaceutical Technology & Quality Assurance) or working towards.
  • Registration with an appropriate UK professional body

Desirable

  • Clinical Pharmaceutical Scientist training.
  • Current Radiation Protection Supervisors Certificate of training.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 24 months post registration experience and 6 months full time work in an aseptic unit.
  • Experience of working in a licensed aseptic unit
  • Previous experience of managing a team.

Desirable

  • Research and development experience.

Skills, Abilities and Attributes

Essential

  • Demonstrated basic understanding of the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in the day-to-day management, motivation, and appraisal of staff.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated ability to participate in managing staff sickness and disciplinary issues.
  • Knowledge of research techniques and statistical analysis
