Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dietitian enthusiastic about neurology to lead the dietetic service within a well-established multidisciplinary stroke team at Northwick Park Hospital. The stroke service provides emergency neurological care and rehabilitation on a 59 bedded unit, one of the busiest in the UK. The post holder would also provide occasional support to the regional hyper acute rehabilitation unit dealing with severe complex physical disability.

The wider dietetic team at LNWH is spread across Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex Hospitals. You would be based at Northwick Park but will benefit from the diverse skills and knowledge within the department which also covers paediatrics, critical care, gastroenterology, head and neck oncology and diabetes. The trust also has a catering dietitian, dietetic assistants and good administrative support. We are a teaching hospital and are committed to providing quality training for placement 2 and 3 students. The department is very supportive of research and training and has established evidence-based groups to promote service development and continuous professional development.

Main duties of the job

You would work alongside another band 6 rotational dietitian and support the upskilling of junior dietitians into the field of neurology. The wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) is very friendly and inclusive, and the dietitians are respected members of the team. The post holder will provide nutritional care, encourage evidenced based practice and lead developments in this specialist area, whilst working closely with the stroke MDT. You will support junior members of the department and student dietitians whilst undertaking their placements at Northwick Park Hospital.
