This is a full time post commencing August 2023 for an initial period of one year (extendable by mutual agreement) The posts are equivalent to a Specialist Registrar Level 1 or ST3-4 Level. Candidates holding the (MRCS 1/MRCS 2) This job is ideal for candidates who have completed their basic surgical training and are awaiting a higher surgical training number, or want OOPE experience whilst pursuing a higher research degree (MD or PhD)
Candidates will commit 75% of their time to undergraduate/postgraduate teaching/simulation and the remainder in Research & Audit. The post holders will form part of an active and vibrant faculty and will be encouraged to attend and present at meetings and develop on R&D research/audit projects.
A positive approach to flexible working, problem solving and a passion for teaching would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job
These posts are for one year, possibly renewable. The main aim of the posts is two folds. Firstly, to provide clinical training to the Imperial Undergraduate Otolaryngology and Postgraduate Teaching and Simulation teach for both undergraduate and postgraduates at all levels. These posts will provide an ample opportunity for research in any desired Otolaryngology topic or medical education.
The teaching component of the posts will be accountable to the Director of Clinical Studies/Deputy Director of Clinical Studies and the Otolaryngology Consultant Surgeon and Education Lead, Mr. Arvind Singh and Dr Bhanu Williams (DME) for postgraduate teaching. The research and clinical component will be accountable to an appropriate consultant surgeon relevant to the chosen research project. The teaching fellows will have an office and access to computing facilities as well as administrative secretarial help via each campus undergraduate office.
The teaching will involve a range of activities such as tutorials, skills laboratory, simulation laboratory, bedside teaching, and dedicated teaching clinics on an outpatient basis. Time is allocated for preparation of tutorials, lectures & teaching materials such as handouts. The teaching fellow will be also encouraged to show initiative & develop other teaching ideas such as student case presentations, role playing, quiz and simulation.
