Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Research Nurse, with excellent planning and organisational skills to join the St Mark's Pelvic Floor Biofeedback Unit at Central Middlesex Hospital.

We are looking for a part-time, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Research nurse to join our Pelvic Floor Unit Biofeedback team.

The LNWH is a research active Trust. We have a dedicated research team and R&D department who are committed to improving healthcare services by promoting and supporting a wide range of high quality research.

This is an exciting post which will provide an opportunity for you to develop clinical research skills with regards to conservative measures in Functional Bowel Disorders. You will work closely with the Lead Practitioner to co-ordinate the running of research studies within the unit. The post will be based at Central Middlesex Hospital in Abbey Road but may involve occasional travel to Northwick Park Hospital Sir Alan Parks Physiology Unit, and external meetings.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve setting up and coordinating clinical studies, delivering on key objectives and developing research capacity within the Biofeedback Unit. You will recruit patients into studies and be responsible for all aspects or enrolment and data collection. You will work collaboratively with the Lead and clinical practitioners and the wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in the management of clinical trials.

The post holder will be expected to be proactive in educating clinical staff in the specifics of running clinical trials. You should demonstrate the ability to manage own work load and to work as part of a team.

Previous experience working within a clinical research environment will be desirable. This post offers excellent opportunities in gaining managerial experience and the opportunity to maintain your clinical skills.

The role will involve the identification of potential participants, providing information about studies and gaining informed consent. The research nurse will be a point of contact for participants and health professionals and will be responsible for managing study data and the follow-up of participants. Study specific training will be provided. You will also be expected to assist in the development and implementation of the wider research agenda and contribute to studies eligible for inclusion on the NIHR CRN Portfolio.
