Job summary
Your role will involve supporting the Team Lead in the day to day running of the administrative service.
The Ophthalmology Administrator is the first point of contact for patients and visitors who are referred to the Ophthalmology Department and will oversee the clinics run within the Ophthalmology Service.
A key part to this role will be to ensure an excellent level of customer service and attention to detail is delivered throughout the team.
This role provides the administration/clerical function for the department as well as the Trust. This includes the electronic admission and discharge of patients treated.
The post holder will be available to work a 37.5 Monday - Friday role starting 09:00 and finishing 17:00.
The role of the Ophthalmology Administrator includes the accurate and timely input of the clinical data into the Trust Cener system and booking patients into the correct clinics.
The post holder will adhere to Trust policy with regards to the sensitive information that patients are providing, and the sensitive information held with regards to them.
The post holder will be required to work at any of the Trust's sites.
The Ophthalmology Administrator is required to work flexibly within the post to achieve the role outcome.
Main duties of the job
Your role will be crucial to the smooth running of the service, as you will be the first point of contact for our service users. You will have excellent interpersonal skills to ensure that all patients have a positive experience of the service.
As outlined above you will be booking outpatient appointments and liaising with clinicians and other colleagues to ensure clinics are fully utilised. Therefore, teamwork is very important in this role.
We are looking for individual with a "can do" positive attitude, as well as excellent communication skills.
You will be able to work independently using your own initiative while maintaining your role as a strong team player. You will have excellent telephone and IT skills.
Training will be provided for our IT systems and within the overall Ophthalmology processes.
This post may require you to work across site within department.
