Job summary

An exciting new opportunity is being offered for Band 5 Nursing staff in hyper acute stroke Unit at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

This post will involve the chance to work in clinical settings within the stroke pathway with an accompanying education package. The education package will prepare the nurse to become a confident, competent practitioner, with the ability to administer care to clinically complex patients that require critical care support. Individuals will be offered preceptorship, continuing professional development courses including a bespoke stroke management course, the opportunity to undertake a leadership module.

Applicants are invited to apply from newly qualified up to 12 months registered with the NMC.

Main duties of the job

  • Demonstrate a passion for Nursing and be committed to providing care with dignity and compassion.
  • Demonstrate and promote a patient and family centered style of clinical practice.
  • Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to discharge.
  • Accurately document and report to other members of the nursing team, multidisciplinary team and family/carers regarding the care given to patients, and communicating changes as they occur.
  • Ensure clinical practice is evidence based or peer reviewed "best practice".
  • Develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide person centered, evidence based nursing care.
  • With supervision and assistance, take on increased responsibility (for example being a named nurse), recognizing own limitations and seeking help appropriately.
  • Set and maintain standards of practice, conduct and decision making commensurate with The Code (NMC 2015).
