Job summary
The pharmacy purchasing team based at Central Middlesex Hospital is expanding with this newly created position of Senior Pharmacy Purchasing officer.
The main duties of the role are to lead on re-claiming off-contract medication purchases, but the post holder will be expected to contribute to the purchasing team in general.
The post holder will be based on the Central Middlesex site, but may be required to work on any of the Trust sites (Ealing and Northwick Hospital) if required.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post include (but are not limited to)
- Working together with the purchasing officers based at Ealing & Northwick Park hospitals:
- Responsible for ensuring that the Trust is reimbursed by obtaining compensation for off contract purchases when contracted suppliers are unable to supply, under the Department of Health (DofH) Commercial Medicines Unit (CMU) terms and conditions.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records of successful and outstanding claims.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records of the Trust's contract variance purchases via EXEND+
- Responsible for ensuring that all invoices are raised for private sales customers each month, including reconciliation and balances, identifying errors and discrepancies, VAT payments and deductions.
- Select drugs required for ordering, process daily orders and enter data on to pharmacy stock ordering system.
- Deal with special request orders and when difficulties arise with a particular supplier seek an alternative supplier. Liaise with suppliers to obtain permission to buy off contract and then source products, liaising with the Principal Pharmacy Technician if difficulties are experienced.
