Job summary

The individual in this position is responsible for providing support and training to end-users for various processes related to RIS/PACS/Viewpoint/interfaces and other radiology systems. They will investigate, manage, and resolve issues and problems associated with their assigned portfolio, collaborating with third-party system suppliers when necessary. The post holder will contribute to the development of specifications for any requested changes to the team's application portfolio. They will also assist in strategic planning for the current and future configuration of the application portfolio and participate in various work streams within broader Digital Services projects or programs. Additionally, the post holder will conduct training programs for the application portfolio to ensure optimal business process efficiency.

Main duties of the job

The senior PACS administrator will establish close collaboration with various teams within radiology and maternity, including Business Intelligence, Clinical Coding, Information Governance, and Data Quality. They will work closely together to ensure effective coordination and cooperation. Additionally, the role may require direct communication with Project Managers and system vendors for project-related tasks and work streams.

You will acquire extensive expertise in the maternity system 'Viewpoint' and other radiology systems, ensuring their delivery at a high standard while prioritising patient care as the central focus.

Respond promptly and customer-focused to incidents and requests received through the Digital Services help desk or other channels, efficiently managing radiology system operations.

Ensure appropriate access levels and security for end users of the Application portfolio, aligning with their job roles. Maintain accounts for staff leaving or temporary staff to ensure up-to-date application access rights. Log and investigate security incidents using the Trust's incident management system.

Conduct user satisfaction surveys to assess and enhance the organisation's digital literacy on a wider scale.

Provide ongoing support and assistance to application users through various training methods, including "Floor Walking," structured training sessions, drop-in sessions, and one-on-one training.

Deliver training modules and materials as directed by the Radiology Systems Manager, incorporating user feedback and application changes. Optimise training materials for large staff groups, such as students and junior doctors, who rotate within the organisation.

Support the development of innovative training solutions, such as e-learning and address data quality concerns and improve business processes.

PROBLEM MANAGEMENT

Offer second-line support and troubleshooting to resolve user issues and address data quality concerns.

Escalate problems to third-party application vendors, documenting vendor updates in the Trust help desk system, and communicating them to the Radiology Systems Manager.

CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT

Analyse user requirements for existing business processes and translate them into solutions by modifying, developing, and implementing enhancements to relevant applications.

Collaborate with clinicians and managers to identify, develop, and propose service improvements that enhance business efficiency.

Assist the Radiology Systems Manager in troubleshooting technical and data quality issues and identifying necessary modifications to meet evolving user requirements.

Ensure compliance with NHS national standards for data capture and reporting. Maintain data integrity during integration messages with other applications through an integration engine and in data extracts to the data warehouse or external data stores.

Comply with Standard Operating Procedures for the team's application portfolio, suggesting improvements or updates in response to application changes or data quality concerns.

IT OPERATIONS CONTROL

Monitor performance against a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Application portfolio, covering user access, data quality, and system integrity. Provide reports to radiology (RIS/PACS) and maternity (Viewpoint) management as necessary.

Provide weekly and monthly reports on training and application support activities to the Radiology Systems Manager, covering the team's Application portfolio and project work streams.

Report progress on training and application support work for the team's Application portfolio and project work streams to the Radiology Systems Manager.

Test end-user reports or data extraction routines against agreed specifications, using application-specific toolsets or engaging the application vendor.

CONTINUITY MANAGEMENT

Ensure compliance with the system(s) data retention policy by maintaining data backups.

Collaborate with clinicians, managers, suppliers, and other application managers to ensure continuity of service during planned application downtime. Ensure emergency protocols and procedures are effective.
