Job summary
This role as been developed within the Trust to ensure statutory requirements are met and to strengthen governance arrangements around safeguarding adult concerns and deputise for the Head of Safeguarding. The post is designed to work alongside the Head of Safeguarding Adults and Children and the Deputy Chief Nurse. The post holder is required to deputise for the Head of Safeguarding in their absence. The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring the safeguarding process is completed within the time frame and participate in relevant subgroups to enhance the high profile of safeguarding within the Trust. The post holder will demonstrate advanced skills and competencies to influence the pathways of care in the safeguarding of vulnerable people. They will initiate and add to research evidence in the field of adult safeguarding to ensure that evidence-based practice is inherent in all aspects of care. The role requires a high level of legal literacy of all law that interfaces with the safeguarding agenda. The Lead Nurse Adult Safeguarding is responsible for the leadership and day-to-day running of the Safeguarding Adults and Learning Disabilities and Autism Teams. The post holder will work in partnership with local authorities; will be involved in quality assessments on all clinical areas.
Main duties of the job
- Deputise for the Head of Safeguarding in their absence
- Be the Operational Lead for Safeguarding Adults and Learning Disabilities and Autism Teams and will provide visible professional leadership across the Trust
- Work with the Deputy Chief Nurse, Named Doctor and Head of Safeguarding, Named Nurses for Safeguarding Children, Named Midwife, Lead Nurses for Learning Disabilities and Autism taking a lead in all strategic planning and development relating to the protection and welfare of adults.
- Have a high degree of autonomy and will work collaboratively with all members of the Corporate Nursing team, Safeguarding Team, Safeguarding Multi-agency Partners, CCGs, Locality LeDeR Group, Nursing Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals
- Be a highly visible senior nurse, providing specialist knowledge, advice and clinical expertise to all staff in the Trust in all areas of safeguarding adults at risk
- Co-ordinate and contribute to inter-professional training in safeguarding adults across the Trust
- Chair Trust Safeguarding Adults Committee when deputising for the Head of Safeguarding
- Attend and represent the Trust at Adult Safeguarding Boards and sub committees, influencing work streams and transferring practice into the Trust
- Act as the Trust lead for PREVENT, MCA, DoLS/LPS
- Maintain personal clinical competence and credibility.
