Job summary

This is a 7 or 8 months' fixed term post

This post involves care of children on Jacks Place (Long stay inpatient ward), Paediatric Day-care unit, Rainbow Ward or the Paediatric ambulatory unit (PAU)(Short stay inpatient ward <24hrs) and the care of children in the Paediatric Emergency department. The trust grade SHOs in Paediatrics are part of the ST1-3/ FY2 rota and will see all children as per the agreed protocol in the Emergency Department. They will attend ward rounds, daily hand-over, weekly Grand Round and other departmental teaching opportunities. They will also be given the opportunity to see children in outpatient clinics alongside consultants or registrars.

The role provides extensive opportunities for training. This post is covered by the Hospital Medical and Dental Staffs Terms and Conditions of Service, a copy of which may be seen on request in the Medical Personnel Office
