Job summary
An exciting opportunity for 2 substantive consultant posts in the Gastroenterology & Endoscopy department at The St Mark's National Bowel Hospital has arisen. These posts are newly created and we are looking for individuals with a sub-specialist interest in endoscopy, particularly with regard to advanced polypectomy, surveillance of high risk cancer groups, video capsule endoscopy and balloon enteroscopy.
St Mark's is an internationally renowned centre of excellence for gastroenterology, endoscopy and colorectal surgery, as well as a tertiary referral and national training centre. The department delivers gastroenterology and endoscopy services across the Trust's four hospitals - St Mark's, Central Middlesex, Northwick Park and Ealing - and provides an extensive range of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures for both local and nationally referred patients.

Main duties of the job
Duties will include:
- Outpatient and in-patient endoscopy service delivery.
- Specialist diagnostic & therapeutic endoscopy
- Ward cover on a 1:5 rota
- Outpatient services for patients with gastroenterological disorders
- Participation in post-graduate teaching and training relating to endoscopy
- Training of specialist registrars in endoscopy and support/training for the team of nurse endoscopists
- Support, supervise and provide training for the team of specialist nurses and administrative staff in endoscopy
- Providing an on-call gastroenterology service within the Trust (1 in 15)
- Research in liaison with Imperial College School of Medicine and other academic partners
