Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen on Eliot ward, in Northwick Park Hospital.

We are looking to recruit highly motivated staff nurses to join our friendly nursing team.

You will receive support in your new role and will be encouraged in further development. We offer a supportive, exciting and challenging work environment and we are committed to the training and development of our staff.

This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who is passionate about surgical patients. The ideal candidates must enjoy patient contact and must be patient centred.

The candidates must be able to communicate well with others, be good team players and show a natural desire to want to develop others as well as the service.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the care of a group of patients during the shift.To be one of a team of named nurses, caring for a particular group of patients.

Assists in meeting the requirements of the Clinical Governance programme pertaining to the ward.

Assists in coordinating discharge planning in accordance with London North West Healthcare NHS Trust policy.

Clinical Practice1.1 To assist in the assessment of care needs, development, delivery and implementation of programmes of care for an assigned patient group, using a validated model of nursing.1.2 To implement appropriate practices in line with the policies of London North West Healthcare NHS Trust, to provide skilled/research based nursing care to meet the identified needs of patients and their relatives.1.3 To work to the agreed standards of care within London North West Healthcare NHS Trust, and in collaboration with the Senior Sister/Ward Manager, monitor patient outcomes.1.4 To establish effective communications with medical colleagues and all health care professionals to ensure appropriate nursing input to patient care discussions in order to ensure safe practice.1.5 To be aware of the policies and philosophies of London North West Healthcare NHS Trust, including Health and Safety and ensure all actions are carried out within these guidelines.1.6 To assist the Senior Sister and Senior Nurse/Ward Manager in maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients and relatives.1.7 To assist the Education, Learning and Development department in the implementation of nursing research/changes in clinical practice.1.8 Ensures effective participation in Clinical Governance initiatives and actively contributes to compliance with benchmarked standards for quality of clinical care.1.9 To assist in clinical audit in line with Hospital and Divisional requirements.1.10 To assist in the use of quality measuring tools as used by London North West Healthcare NHS Trust.
