Job summary
A key member of the Trust Executive Group, the EOC and CMH Medical Director will play a leadership role, overviewing cross divisional site issues, aligning medical and other staff on all sites, influencing the management and development of the site and Trust.
Supporting the Trust to achieve its strategic and operational objectives, they will encourage clinical innovation and service change across Divisions, through teamwork, to enhance patient care.As a member of the NWL EOC partnership board they will liaise and engage with fellow board members from partner Trusts.
Candidates will be medically qualified, with a successful consultant career to date. Their experience should include a track record of leadership, at Clinical Director or equivalent level, involving substantial change programmes, organisational capability and setting strategic vision and direction. They will possess an understanding of the complexity of secondary and tertiary healthcare.
The candidate must be able to evidence our Trust values with behaviour that reinforces this. They should relish achallengeand demonstrate tenacity in the face of uncertainty. They should be determined to improve their personal skills and knowledge through on-going continuous professional development.
Main duties of the job
Corporate and Clinical Leadership (Quality of Care)
- To be accountable for the delivery of safe, high quality patient care as an overriding priority
- Represent medical leadership at the site, including issues of medical workforce
- Work alongside the CMH Site Director of Nursing and the CMH/EOC Managing Director
- To take clinical leadership and oversight of the Elective Orthopaedic Centre and the CMH Urgent Treatment Centre
- To manage and monitor site-specific risks and quality issues with triumvirate colleagues
- Engage with key local stakeholders
- To provide support, direction and challenge to the clinical divisions
- With the site triumvirate, to develop robust business continuity plans for the site
- To represent the site at the Trust Executive group
Use of Resources
- To be operationally accountable to the Chief Operating Officer and professionally accountable to the Chief Medical Officer for delivery of all relevant site-specific activity and performance objectives from a medical perspective
- To support the Divisions to deliver KPIs including site specific clinical outcome measures
- To deliver, as the site triumvirate, quarterly site-specific reports to the Board and the sub-committees as required
- Any additional responsibilities as agreed with the COO and CMO
- To lead, as part of the site triumvirate, any major site-specific programmes not covered above
