Trust Specialist Registrar in Rheumatology
12 Months Fixed Term
The Trust is recruiting to a Trust Specialist Registrar post in Rheumatology for a fixed term of 12 months. The post will be based at Northwick Park Hospital and it would be an ideal starting point for someone looking to apply for SpR training schemes in Rheumatology.
The post holder will work Monday to Friday, 0900-1700. A key component of the role is working with the rheumatology team to ensure the delivery ofhigh quality of care of rheumatology and medical inpatients.
The post holder will contribute to rheumatology clinics in a predominantly supernumerary manner. It is expected that the post holder willplay a role in audit, including participating in national audit programmes, teaching and supervising juniors, gaining management experience relating to rheumatology juniors' rota, anddeveloping their own programme of clinical governance with guidance from their Supervisor.
Main duties of the job
Ward Duties
The postholder will work as a member of the Rheumatology team with F1 trainees, SHOs, ST registrars and the consultant staff to ensure high quality care of rheumatology and medical patients. The rheumatology team is responsible for care of patients on Jonson Ward, and outlying patients on Gray and James ward. Therheumatology team provide rheumatological opinions and urgent care to the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit.
Outpatient Duties
the post holder will contribute to rheumatology clinics in a predominantly supernumerary manner. Rheumatology general and sub-specialty clinics take place in Northwick Park, including early arthritis, connective tissue disease, metabolic bonedisease, injection clinics, and ankylosing spondylitis clinic.Audit & Clinical Governance Post holder will be expected to play a role in audit, including participation in national audit programmes. The post holder will be expected to manage the day to dayrunning of the rheumatology juniors rota under direct supervision of one of the consultants, thereby gaining experience in management. The post holder isexpected to develop their own programme of clinical governance with guidance from their Supervisor.

There is an active programme of education including general medical education run weekly in the department and weekly post graduate rheumatology teaching. The Department runs north-west London core medical training twice annually as well as specialist registrar training days. Undergraduate education isprovided for Imperial College medical students both in rheumatology and general medicine. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to these activities and will be supervising junior members of the team on a daily basis as part of ward duties.
