Locum Macular Consultant

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the macular service within Ophthalmology at the Central Middlesex Hospital site of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. We are seeking a part-time medical retina Consultant to support delivery of care for patients with retinal diseases including those requiring intravitreal therapies.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary team of consultants who provide dedicated sub-specialty services in cornea, glaucoma, vitreo-retinal surgery, medical retina, oculoplastics and paediatrics/strabismus. The job plan will include a weekly laser session, oversight of rapid access clinic and management of retinal patients. There is no associated on-call.

The medical staff includes nine consultants (including this post), 2 medical retina fellows and four specialty trainees. The ophthalmic services are supported by a team of orthoptists, specialist nurses, an ophthalmic photographer, ophthalmic technicians, optometrist and an eye clinic liaison officer.

The department is well equipped with four spectral domain OCTs and OCT-angiography, fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography and a Quantel suprascan multi-spot laser. All clinics are run on Medisight electronic patient record (EPR).
