Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our community-based consultant-led specialist restorative dental team, providing high quality level 3 complexity care to patients in the North West London sector at Acton Health Centre.
This post is a 0.4 WTE (15 hours per week / 2 days to be agreed) permanent Band C salaried dental contract with pro-rata study leave. The post holder will be involved in the provision of advanced mandatory services (level 3 complexity) in Endodontics.
Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist clinical care in line with the standards for dental specialists as set out by the Royal Colleges
- Undertakes the diagnosis, assessment and management of Level 3 complexity cases
- Assist the Clinical Director with Clinical Leadership within the service
- Uses appropriate local anaesthesia and patient management approaches to control pain and anxiety during dental treatment
- Participate regularly in reviewing and ensuring that the service achieves its aims in line with the operational policies and key performance indicators. Be involved in the planning and delivery of high quality, clinically effective services which meet the standards for clinical governance.

Clinical Competencies and Duties- Provide specialist clinical care in line with the standards for dental specialists as set out by the Royal Colleges- Plans and manages care where there are complex medical co-morbidities or the situation requires the involvement of other professionals and/or carers to resolve complex patient management issues as agreed with local commissioning- Undertakes thorough examination and assessment of patients to be able to provide appropriate care or to determine the need for more specialist advice- Can identify commonly occurring medical emergencies and lead the dental team in the appropriate first line management of the emergency, using appropriate techniques equipment and drugs. Keeps up to date with developments in this area and/or able to advise other members of and may take responsibility for organising the training and resources for the acute management of medical emergencies within the service- Uses appropriate local anaesthesia and patient management approaches to control pain and anxiety during dental treatment.- Undertakes the diagnosis, assessment and management of Level 3 complexity cases- Provides comprehensive care- Provides advice support to staff on management of complex cases; provision of complex treatment- May be required to organise clinical teaching and training programmes, deliver training and support others within their specialist field

- Full Registration with GDC & defence organisation
- Successful completion of a 3 year full time (or part time equivalent) training programme in Endodontics
- Name on GDC specialist list in Endodontics (or within 3 months)

- Competent to manage full range of treatment in Endodontics

- Broad experience of all aspects of Dentistry
