Job summary
SHO TRAINING ROTATIONS IN SPECIALITY, ACUTE & INTENSIVE CARE MEDICINE (F2 and IMT ready)
The Trust is recruiting to Trust Trainee rotations including emergency medicine, acute medicine, medical specialties (including respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrinology, rheumatology, haematology, infectious diseases, oncology) and intensive care. Each rotation will be 12 months duration and include 2-3 specialties and acute medicine.
While not London Deanery funded rotations, these will all be training posts with full educational and clinical supervision. All trainees will be enrolled onto the Royal College of Physicians e-portfolio (Foundation or IMT) and be entitled to study leave. The trust's PACES teaching, medical SHO procedures course and Reg Ready sim will be available to all trainees.

Essential
- GMC registration
- Previous medical experience in the UK of at least 6 months
- At least one year's medical experience at F1 level or above
- Sound general medical knowledge
- Sound communication skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team
- Keen to learn and train in busy Major Acute Hospital

Main duties of the job
- Clinical - The post holder will be responsible for the regular clinical assessment and management of all patients, in conjunction with consultants and anaesthetic trainees. Close supervision will be available at all times but incumbents of the posts will be trained and encouraged to develop initiative in clinical assessment, diagnosis and active management of their patients, rather than being limited to carrying out a daily list of tasks. This clinical commitment extends beyond the unit to support that Critical Care Outreach nurses and the care of critically ill patients throughout the hospital.
- Administrative - The post holder will have a prime responsibility for the regular and accurate documentation of history, examination, clinical progress, and results of investigations. This will include computerised record keeping in the near future, and an ability to cope with basic computer text entry will be expected. This role will also include the day-to-day audit of practice and standards of care.
