Director of Finance

East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust

VSM Pay Framework - salary range for this role is between £120,000 and £135,000 per annum (FTE).

We are looking to appoint a new Director of Finance. We are looking for an individual who wants to use their energy, skills and experience to help drive the delivery of sustainable healthcare services for the people of the East Midlands.

The current context presents challenges, but exciting opportunities for a new Director of Finance. We have an ambitious vision to be 'Responding to patient needs in the right way, developing our organisation to become outstanding for patients and staff, and collaborating to improve wider healthcare'. In an era of integrated health and care provision we are working with partner organisations across the diverse populations we serve to optimise and improve care and outcomes, whilst delivering within a complex financial environment, striving to meet efficiency and productivity objectives.

Building on the strong foundation left by our retiring Director of Finance, Mike Naylor, this appointment is a significant opportunity to play a central leadership role on our Board and to help shape the future of emergency and urgent care service delivery for a large population.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an individual with exceptional financial knowledge and skills, as well as passion and commitment to delivering first class services in collaboration with a range of partners. Experience of ambulance services is not essential, but proven strategic capabilities, expertise in financial management, an ability to operate in a regulated, multi-stakeholder landscape, and the capability to inspire an inclusive, compassionate culture is important. Also essential will be a commitment to, and interest in, the work of the ambulance service and a strong alignment to our core values.

As this is a Board level post, candidates are required to apply the competencies described in the NHS Leadership Competency Framework for Board Members (as set out in the Job Description and Person Specification). Given the significant public profile and responsibility members of NHS Boards hold, it is vital that those appointed inspire confidence of the public, patients and NHS staff at all times. This post is subject to the Fit and Proper Persons Regulation, and we therefore make a number of specific background checks to ensure that those we appoint are "fit and proper" people to hold these important roles.
