Job summary

The Business and Strategy Manager is a key and varied role within EMAS working across strategy development, business development and supporting new and emerging relationships with provider collaboratives and integrated care systems.

It is an exciting time in the ambulance sector with a new national focus on ambulance services. In this context the post holder will support the Deputy Director of Strategy and Partnerships to develop and take forward the Trust 5 year strategy and support wider trust colleagues to review and deliver associated sub strategies. The new 5 year trust strategy was launched in 2023 following development with staff, patients, public and integrated care system partners to ensure that the EMAS vision reflects growing and ageing population, increasing demand for our services, changing technology, new models of care and the new Integrated Care Systems opportunity for partnerships.

The post holder will also manage tenders for new business (and other business related projects), co-ordinating the process with subject matter experts across the organisation to ensure model development, written tender response and create a cost effective, high quality tender in response to the requirements of commissioners.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone with a good understanding of the NHS and its challenges, as well as skills in business development, building effective relationships and project management to take on this new and exciting role within the team.

Main duties include;

Business development

  • Lead and co-ordinate the trust response to individual tenders
  • Support the management of the tender pipeline
  • Assist with business development activities including horizon scanning, stakeholder mapping, stakeholder engagement exercises development of new business, market appraisals
  • Business planning processes
  • Develop options appraisals in relation to business opportunities

Strategy and planning

  • Support effective implementation of the trust strategy
  • To support the continued development of the Trust Clinical Strategy.
  • Support monitoring of delivery of key milestones in the trust strategy
  • To support the embedding of a Trust-wide culture of Transformational behaviour, seeking to drive long-term improvements and innovation within the Trust.
  • Support development of options appraisals in relation to new strategic opportunities
