Job responsibilities

Coordinate/locally manage (regional sectors/counties) CFR and co-responder scheme coordinators, logistics, training, activation and welfare of Community First Responders and contribute to growth and development of all schemes in accordance with the CFR strategic direction.

Plan and deliver CFR/co-responder training and education to include cross-sector training support and assessment in the Central Area of Operations (AO) to the limited EMAS CFR schemes.

Lead and influence the local management and development of volunteers, to the professional standards as laid down by the JRCALC guidelines and local protocols and procedures.

Ensure compliance with any Trust or directorate policies, procedures and guidelines.

Provide CFR training and induction for members of the Trust and external clients as required.

Monitor and evaluate the delivery of education, content and teaching materials to ensure the quality exceeds the minimum standards as required by external quality assurance processes.

To provide mentoring and where appropriate coaching and counselling to responder schemes and all volunteers.

Ensure information and training management systems are followed in accordance with the CFR data base and CFR folders.

At agreed times, undertake clinical duties by agreement with the Operations Management Team to support organisational goals, seasonal pressures and maintain personal skills/CPD.

Maintain the serviceability and security of departmental equipment and vehicles and that training venues are monitored to ensure a safe learning environment for all.

To maintain confidentiality in line with Trust policy and ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and Caldicott principles.

Provide training in line with income generation requests from commercial companies or other parts of the health community as required.

When requested produce written basic reports/updates for internal meetings on a range of issues and provide quarterly reports to the management team and key external stakeholders.

Assist with the Trusts response to external inspections/ accreditation visits.

Assist with fact finding and investigations following complaints and incidents.

To Delivery high quality patient care/response to the appropriate level of clinical qualification, eg Community First Responder at appropriate level, ECA, Technician, Paramedic. (Support Trust CMP status).

Support and advise with community engagement, fund raising, financial advice to schemes, CFR scheme constitutions. Carefully manage and co-ordinate all community responder schemes within your area of responsibility.

Co-ordinate and support the promotion and development of all local schemes in your sector.

Co-ordinate local roll out of the national programme taking account of the full range of community first responder and co-responder schemes.

Ensure joined-up-working across all first responder schemes.

Manage the links between the ambulance service (Division), the NHS locally, British Heart Foundation (BHF) and community responder schemes including those run by the voluntary and third party/co-responding sector.

Ensure that appropriate resources are available to these volunteers through partnership agreements and through individual Community First Responder charitable funds and liaise across multi-disciplinary groups in relation to community and first responders;

Undertake other local managerial and coordinating duties as required to maintain and contribute to the operational profile of the service within the community by ensuring the effective utilisation of volunteers, throughout the county including managing finances linked to Community Responder Schemes in line with the EMAS CFR charitable funds committee.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Possess Level 3 Award in Education and Training
• One of the following qualifications or equivalent; NHS Qualified CFR, ECA, IHCD Ambulance Technician, NMC Registered Nurse or HCPC registered Paramedic.
• Full Clean Driving Licence
• Experience of working within the Health Care Profession or the Voluntary Sector.
• Good Knowledge of the NHS Working knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of the human body Effective written and verbal presentation and communication skills IT skills in MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
• Ability to work outside normal working hours (OOH) as and when the needs of the role requires (unsocial)
• 2 years operational Ambulance Service or Healthcare experience or 2 years experience of providing training in a service industry
• Portfolio of CPD evidence showing commitment to personal development.

Desirable

• Experience of presenting information to colleagues and delivering education.
• Experience of working with volunteer's
• Level 3 CMI supervisory/management qualification or equivelent
• GCSE or equivalent in Human Biology
• Cert Ed Teaching Qualification
• FREC 4
