Job summary

The Derbyshire Division of East Midlands Ambulance Service are seeking applications from experienced senior clinical/quality leads, to join us on our improvement journey. You will be a registered clinician, although not necessarily from an ambulance background, with significant experience of leading a quality agenda at a senior level.

Main duties of the job

This role will support the Trust's approach to quality assurance, quality improvement and identifies priorities in the five domains of quality, aligned with the Care Quality Commission regulatory framework; caring, responsive, effective, well-led and safe.

The focus of this role is to provide Divisional oversight for and coordinate the delivery of the quality improvement across Derbyshire, delivering the EMAS strategy. Whilst this role is accountable to the Divisional Director in terms of setting overall objectives and priorities, this role will work closely and proactively with their respective Heads of Operations, who operationally lead their service areas. They will also provide professional leadership for the Divisional teams of Divisional Senior Clinical Leader (DSCL) and Specialist Practitioner (SP) roles, acting as the Division's clinical and quality lead.

The Divisional Senior Manager (Quality) will take the lead coordinating role in the development of clinical and quality improvement plans, linking Divisional priorities with other business areas such as Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, the Medical Directorate and Education.

About us

This role is responsible for the strategic aspects of Divisional quality improvement, supporting the remainder of the leadership structure which is focused on the reactive / dynamic aspects of service delivery. The role, along with the Divisional Director and Heads of Operations, is a key interface with external stakeholders and partners.

  • Degree level management -qualification (or studying for) or equivalent experience
  • Appropriate clinical (Paramedic, Nurse, AHP) qualification with current professional registration e.g. HCPC
  • Knowledge of health service management, including change management and workforce re-design

  • Track record of achievement in the planning of quality improvement gained over at least two years
  • Experience of people management issues in relation to managing clinical performance and conduct
  • Good understanding of the CQC core standards and meeting a high level of compliance
  • Understanding of the responsibilities of Divisional leadership (operational, clinical, command) teams
