Job summary
We are currently advertising for Urgent Care Assistants within our Urgent Care Transport Service in the Derbyshire area as part of a job share.
You will be expected to fully attend any essential training that is required for this role, for which attendance is mandatory.
Main duties of the job
This role will include the care and transportation of non-emergency patients to hospital sites and providing high dependency/bariatric transportation to and from specified locations and points of care as directed by the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
These are patients that have been assessed by a Doctor or Healthcare Professional and are deemed suitable for a non-emergency admission to a predetermined hospital within a defined timescale.
You will be directly supporting the A&E service, and will be required to select and apply the appropriate equipment and skills for patients. This role operates 8 hour shifts (Monday to Friday).

1. Drive all types of approved non-emergency ambulance service vehicles.2. To undertake journeys, transporting patients for admission to hospital sites and transfer from / to specified locations as specified by the Trust.3. Carry out general vehicle checks at the start of and during each shift, to ensure the readiness of the vehicle and communications equipment to respond as required. All defects, deficiencies and accident damage must be reported in accordance with Trust procedures.4. Ensure that vehicles are clean and appropriately stocked and refuel them as required.5. Maintain a competent working knowledge of all medical equipment carried on vehicles appropriate to the required skill level and scope of practice.6. Maintain competence in assisting a qualified practitioner in the use of appropriate equipment in line with the scope of practice and associated training.7. Ensure that all procedures used within the scope of practice are consistent with and promote good infection control.8. Ensure that required equipment is stored, transported and cared for so that they are always in good working order.9. Comply with basic scene safety checks and the associated basic risk assessments, working with other healthcare professionals.10. Support qualified practitioners as directed, in the provision of high quality care.
