Job summary
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM) are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Primary mental health care team in Neighbourhood 1 within the London Borough of Lewisham.
If you are looking for an exciting clinical role, within established primary care mental health teams, with opportunities to work closely with Primary care partners and lead on further service development and incorporating quality improvement methodology to evaluate changes, then this is the ideal post for you.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the consultant are to provide psychiatry consultant leadership to the Primary Care Mental Health Team, and to support the Clinical Service Lead.
Close liaison with primary care will be a key part of the role. You will need to work directly with GPs and will need to attend regular meetings with local practices to improve the primary / secondary care interface and enhance the ability of medical colleagues working in primary care (Lead consultant in neighbourhood to take on this role)
The post holder will be expected to provide clinical cover for other Lewisham borough consultants and vice versa.

- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification (in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrists guidelines)
- Experience in other relevant specialties such as liaison psychiatry, home treatment or addictions
Eligibility
Essential
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry OR within six months
Desirable
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
- Approved clinician status and under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
