Specialist Eating Disorders Dietitian

Job summary

The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM) Eating Disorders Service provides adult Outpatient and Day Service treatment from the Maudsley Hospital site, where a brand new, purpose designed Day Services unit opened in April 2021.

This post will provide additional dietetic input for a continuously expanding service. Working alongside other Band 7specialist dietitian. The post holder will plan and provide dietetic assessment and treatment for adult service users with a range of eating disorder diagnoses under the care of the Day and OutpatientServices.

The post holder willbenefit from the learning and support available from being based within the eating disorders multidisciplinary team and maintain a professional link with the wider SLAM dietetics service.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the eating disorders Day Services and Outpatient multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) to:

Working in conjunction with other band7 Specialist Dietitians (Outpatient and Day Services), to develop appropriate service standards, care pathways and materials for the dietetics service, and contribute to MDT service development and evaluation

Carry a complex caseload, using evidence based and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions

Organise and provide supervision and training for junior staff and students

Provide advice and information to the hospital food service provider, so that the needs of service users are met

Guide the MDT on the effective implementation of the Trust's nutrition screening and care planning programme

Support the service by providing information and training for colleagues

  • Relevant degree
  • Post registration course(s) at master's level in relevant areas of clinical dietetics

Desirable

  • Higher degree

  • At least five years in clinical dietetic practice, including experience in eating disorders and at least two of these clinical areas: mental health, nutrition support, weight management, diabetes
  • Experience in training and supervising students
