Job summary

Working as part of a large team you will be required to be smart and have a courteous attitude in keeping with the Trusts and Estates Departments Objectives.

The Trust provides NHS care and treatment for people with mental health problems in seven London boroughs and nationally. You will cover community properties.

Main duties of the job

As a Mechanical Maintenance Assistant you will need to be keen, enthusiastic and physically fit. The main activities are maintenance, reactive repairs, compliance monitoring and associated remedialwork.

Applicants should be able to prioritise their work, parts and materials and carry out tasks from appropriate technical instructions/drawings, specifications in a safe, tidy manner and be capable of working on their own initiative. The Main Hospitals and Community Properties include forensic buildings.

The trust provides a wide range of mental health services to the local community as well as nationally. To maintain continuity of service there will be times when extra hours, altered work patterns/duties is required as well as a requirement to undertake training to remain current with relevant standards and practices.

Use all skills, experience and knowledge ensuring safe working methods to carry out maintenance tasks in the most cost effective way for the Trust2. To understand the workings of buildings, engineering services and systems in NHS/Trust premises. Ensuring that they are maintained to a high standard and that all plant and equipment are utilised in a safe and efficient manner3. To carry out work in a timely manner as requested using the current works requisition system and ensuring that any associated information is recorded.4. To work as part of a departmental team and where necessary support colleagues of all levels and disciplines as required.5. To provide a maintenance service to all Trust buildings, off site properties and be able to work unsupervised.6. To maintain continuity of service there will be times when extra hours, altered work patterns, duties or location are required.7. To keep up to date with current legislation and attend training courses as directed by Estate Management8.
