Job summary

This Organisational Design & Effectiveness Head of Delivery role will be responsible for working across directorates and executive portfolios to ensure the effective delivery and optimisation of the Trust's organisational design - working to implement a number of initiatives related to organisational effectiveness to support the organisation to deliver outstanding care. This work will range from analysis of the Trust's organisational design using appropriate models and evidence, enabling organisational change and ensuring a consistent approach between organisational design and organisational strategy. The post holder would be expected to work with teams across the Trust as necessary. They will work to the Director of Strategy & Transformation, whilst being required to work closely with other key executives, including matrix-reporting to the Chief People Officer on some initiatives and working in close collaboration with the Head of PMO and Head of Transformation within the Trust.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Development

o Define a set of organisational design principles which set the direction to enable cultural change, build organisation effectiveness and support transformational change through targeted Organisation Design interventions.

o Evaluate and assess the underlying processes, organisational principles, organisation structure and roles and responsibilities to ensure they are effective in delivering the strategic outcomes

o Utilise a range of diagnostic tools to enable teams to develop a deeper understanding of their challenges, situation and circumstances

o Analyse and utilise processes & systems, organisational competencies, and behavioural framework to support development of the workforce to achieve the Trusts strategic aims

o Holds a strong understanding of organisational design, evidence, frameworks and the technical knowledge to design appropriate interventions and implementation plans

o To work within Trust and wider processes to get consensus, buy-in and sign off across portfolios including ensuring clear articulation of new/revised models

o Alignmentand delivery ofstrategic plans into business as usual organisations and ensure translation into policy, operations and performance in relevant areas.

o Leadon senior conversations about organisational design with the need to recommend new models or new ways of working, including new roles.

o Capture and share learning across the sector to contribute to the development of theorganisational designstrategy, future implementation programmes and best practice.

Programme Design & Delivery

o Define, lead and manage the organisational design programme,ensuringkey stakeholdersupport throughoutand developingphasedimplementation plans.

o Develop sustainable operating models, supported by robust analysis and evaluation of relevant organisational design frameworks.

o Develop and maintain implementation, monitoring and ongoing continuous improvement ofinitiatives.

o Ensure alignment with other relevant local programmes of work and policy initiatives, workingthrough ambiguity and uncertainty.

o Work closely with Trust transformational and PMO resource to support, deliver and enable matrix working on a total portfolio for outstanding mental health care

Stakeholder Engagement

o Proactively build effective relationships across the organisation to ensure we create relevant interventions and solutions through developing an understanding of context, challenges and pressures

o Manage and provide facilitation of a range of activities including meetings, feedback sessions, and other engagement events

o To act as a champion for the interests of patients and localpeople, andinvolve them inorganisationaldesign development and decision-making as appropriate.

Partnership Working& Leadership

o Build and proactively develop effective stakeholder relationships inthe Trust, and actively develop productive relationships by diplomatically managing the compete priorities that may occur in some environments.

o Lead consensus building strategies across colleagues, and actively manage potential blockages and competing opinions to deliver constructive and patient focused change.

o Able toclearly articulate a compelling case for change to support improvements in organisational design, and ultimately in peoples care and experience

Team Management

o Lead and matrix work with all members of the project team.

o Role model continuous professional development on organisational design understanding, knowledge and evidence.

Special Requirements

o Demonstrate high standards of integrity when dealing with shared data or information and ensure individual and organisational confidentiality is maintained at all times

o On occasion, required to work irregular hours in accordance with the needs of the role

o Meetings will be confirmed as far in advance as feasible to avoid disruption to post holders other commitments/clinical rotas

o Routinely expected to travel across South-East London
