Job summary

To take day to day operational management responsibility in the planning, directing and management of the Tier 3 service- River Team.

The post holder will ensure that service access and delivery is efficient, effective, evidence based, needs led, as well as service user and carer focused.

The post holder will provide clear leadership, in partnership with the Service Manager to ensure access to timely treatment and intervention by well led and motivated staff that contributes to promoting safety and achievement for all children and young people.

Main duties of the job

Operational: covers the management of the team, including clear lines of reporting and how they function in line with mental health governance, the process for escalating any problems or issues

Quality assurance

Strategic: monitoring key outcomes and implementing regular evaluations to allow for continued learning, innovation and improvement.

Responsible for submitting relevant data requirements as requested for local performance and management meetings and other as agreed.

Undertake and support service evaluation, audit, research and policy development.

Work with stakeholders: local commissioners (CCG), GP practices, community settings, CAMHS, local mental health & well-being services.

Work in collaboration with stakeholders, partners and communities towards systemic change that supports advancing mental health equality and narrowing health inequalities and disadvantage.

Attend regular regional and national meetings as required.

To line manage and performance manage team leaders/managers in accordance with Trust standards and protocols.

Team Management

To ensure that services are developed and provided that are of the highest standard in terms of accessibility, consistent with SLAMs values.

To ensure (in conjunction with the Service Manager, Heads of Professions and Lead Clinicians) that practice within the team meets relevant standards, is appropriate, timely, safe and follows agreed professional practice.

Staff Management

To work with the Service Manager and local senior staff to create and embed a performance culture within the service which continuously reviews service delivery via KPI and targets and drives forward service quality improvements in an innovative and transformative way, optimising technology to do this.

To performance manage the quality of the clinical services, including patient safety, patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes and compliance with the clinical pathways and associated protocols.

To use and provide information required for the quality measure which will be collected and reported using dash boards to improve the quality of care delivery.

Clinical effectiveness

To provide demonstrable assurance that the resources available achieve efficiencies, reduction of waste and improvements in clinical quality.

To measure outcomes to demonstrate achievements against care pathway. standards.

To ensure that as a member of CAMHS you are fully aware of current developments, legislation and practice in the care of children and young people with mental health problems.

To attend regular management/professional supervision. Through supervision and appraisal, acknowledge own limitations and discuss/identify/access training as appropriate. Be aware of and reflect on own practice as a manager/clinician.

Essential

  • Entry-level qualification: appropriately registered Educational/ Clinical/Counselling psychologist, Systemic Family Therapist, Psychotherapist, Nurse, OT, Social Work CBT Therapist and registration with relevant UK governing body and registered qualification with one of the above statutory bodies) with related experience in the psychological aspects of caring for children and adolescent with mental health problems/needs.
  • Completed training course in clinical supervision.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as required by relevant Professional body e.g. HCPC/UKCP/RCN/ SWE/ BABCP

Desirable

  • Management and Leadership course or equivalent

  • Evidence of having worked as a clinical specialist children, young people and their families under supervision.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature in CAMHS.
