An opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Specialist Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to join Lewisham Tier 3 CAMHS.
We are looking for an ACP registered child and adolescent psychotherapist with a broad range of experience, including working with children and families who present with a high level of complexity and require skilled and multi-layered assessments and intervention. Child and adolescent psychotherapists currently ending their training are welcome to apply and the post would be equally suitable for somebody with experience working at Band 7 already, but who wishes to take on a new challenge.
Successful applicants will be joining an exciting developing psychoanalytic psychotherapy team. There will be many opportunities for learning, supervision, development and integrative working with young people with moderate to severe mental health problems.

Main duties of the job
To provide a specialist psychotherapy service within Lewisham Generic CAMHS team - Horizon -including specialist and generic assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes, and have a care coordinating caseload.
The post holder will participate on the local CAMHS duty rota and undertake emergency assessments when required.
To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate.
To undertake service evaluation, audit and research.
To work as an autonomous professional within Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical colleagues. About us
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust has the largest child and adolescent mental health service in the country and are national leaders. It is made up of five clinical units: National & Specialist, Lewisham, Southwark, Lambeth and Croydon.
Lewisham has a very high level of social need and mental illness in adults. Children aged 0-19 years number 64,000. Nearly 8% live in single parent households and up to 30% of households are without a wage earner. Children from black and ethnic minority groups represent 37% of 0-14 year olds. The number of looked after children is approximately 480. 20% of children are currently experiencing 3 or more psychosocial difficulties, and 46% of children live in families with three or more risk factors.
Lewisham CAMHS provides a multidisciplinary diagnostic, assessment, treatment, advisory and consultative service for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural disorders at high risk or those with more severe and persistent problems suggestive of psychiatric disorder. The service has five Specialist Multidisciplinary Teams: Horizon (Generic), Neuro Developmental Team (for neurodevelopmental problems including ASD), Symbol (for Looked After and Adopted CYP); LYPS (severe and enduring mental health problems), ARTs (for young offenders), Paediatric Liaison Service (for children with psychological problems associated with chronic health conditions) and CWP(mild to moderate depression, anxiety or behavioural problems.

- Other related professional qualification or equivalent
