Job summary

The N&S CAMHS DBT Service is looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious Assistant Psychologist to join our established Dialectical Behaviour Therapy team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join us in delivering a high-quality, specialist clinical service (including assessments and elements of the treatment programme) and to be involved in research and service evaluation opportunities, as well as other service developments. There may also be opportunities to gain clinical experience in other specialisms with other National & Specialist teams we work closely with.

The post holder will receive regular supervision from a Clinical Psychologist. Former holders of this post have a very high success rate of obtaining a post on a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology course.

Main duties of the job

To assist practitioner psychologists and other disciplines in the delivery of a specialist evidence-based treatment programme.

To provide clinical work as required by the service, under the direct guidance, and close clinical and professional supervision of a practitioner psychologist.

To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

To work following clinical guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, while closely supervised and regularly seeking help from a clinical/professional supervisor or manager.

About us

The National & Specialist CAMHS Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Service is a well-established and supportive team based at the Michael Rutter Centre, Maudsley Hospital. The multi-disciplinary service consists of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, a Senior Systemic Psychotherapist, Nurses and a Consultant Psychiatrist, and is open to referrals within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, Greater London Boroughs and Nationally.

The N&S CAMHS DBT Service is based at the Michael Rutter Centre, De Crespigny Park, SE5 8AZ on the Maudsley Hospital site. Located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2) and is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Ruskin Park and the vibrant high-street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range of restaurants.

Flexible working:

The Trust is proud to offer flexible working as part of our new ways of working, and we are happy to talk flexible working at the interview stage. In this role you will be able to work Monday to Friday from 9a.m. to 5p.m. with occasional slightly earlier starts or later finishes in line with service needs - which will allow a good work-life balance.
