About us
The Psychological Interventions Clinic for oUtpatients with Psychosis (PICuP) is an award-winning specialist psychology service, established in 1999, providing cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) and family interventions (FI) for individuals with distressing psychotic experiences, as well as additional or secondary mental health difficulties.
PICuP is a specialist psychology service, hosted by Croydon Operational Directorate (but located at the Maudsley Hospital), working across all 4 SLaM boroughs and the South East environs. It is a national service and also takes referrals from around London, the South East and nationally, although most of the referrals are from SLaM.
PICuP offers a peer support service to people referred to the team. PICuP is also involved in training mental health professionals in specialist CBT, Tf-CBT and FI for psychosis skills.
PICuP is entirely psychology-led. It was established in 1999 following a randomised controlled trial in CBT for psychosis. The clinic was founded by Prof Elizabeth Kuipers, is headed by Prof. Emmanuelle Peters, and is operationally managed by Dr Nadine Keen.
