Clinical Specialist occupational Therapist
We are looking for an exciting and dynamic staff member to come and join our new service that is changing lives of long stay forensic patients. The Forensic Support Plus team is a new innovative service which is part of the new SLP commissioned services. The team works with forensic patients who have had a long hospital stay with a view to support these individuals back into the community. It is an integrated specialist multi-disciplinary team. The team is based in River House at the Bethlem Royal Hospital and covers patients within SLAM boroughs which include Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark.

Main duties of the job
The right candidate will be able to effectively liaise with multiple teams and external agencies including inpatient teams, CMHTs, social services, hostels, probation service, police and housing, Multidisciplinary team, Service users, carers and families, OT colleagues, Other statutory & voluntary services, Directors, Primary care, Crisis services, Rehabilitation services Royal College of Occupational Therapists. As a specialist OT, you will need to have leadership skills and help with the planning, co-ordination, service delivery and evaluation of high-quality evidence based and person centred Occupational Therapy provisions for forensic clients. You should be able to participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical services using advanced clinical skills and knowledge. Offer specialist advice on the assessment and intervention of occupational needs for children/young people with a neurodevelopmental profile

This team is located in River House which is at the Bethlem Royal Hospital. You will be able to see patients from across the medium secure settings, low security and in the community giving you a well-rounded experience of forensic patients from different aspects in their recovery journey. - To provide a specialist Occupational Therapy service to the Slam Support Plus Forensic team which provides a service to a small but complex caseload of patients mental health needs and forensic background.
- To use evidence based, client centred Occupational Therapy assessments, interventions and outcome measures underpinned by Model of Human Occupational and the Recovery Approach.
- To be responsible for leading delegated occupational therapy and multi-disciplinary projects primarily within the Support Plus Forensic Outreach Service and within other services as delegated
- To lead on the implementation of the clinical pathway of the service and audit, review and report on outcomes against set key performance indicators.
- To provide support and supervision on clinical work in the pathway for all members of the team as required.
- To provide leadership for junior Occupational Therapy and support staff across forensic community services, through supervision and appraisal.
- To work collaboratively and effectively within a multi-disciplinary community team liaising with inpatient services and community-based services as required
