Band 7- Adolescent and Young Adult Mental Health Specialist
Two new posts (one full-time and another part-time) across CAMHS and Adult Mental Health. A central element to this role is the effectively management of the transition for young people into adult services where this is deemed necessary and to work flexibly to promote seamless transitions.It also involves some short-term clinical work with young people who present with complex mental health problems and have presented to A&E in crisis, and/or involvement is needed to prevent a mental health crisis. Applicants who are looking for developmental role from B6 to B7 will also be considered.
Career and development pathwaysWe have regular departmental teaching sessions across all CAMHS and adult Mental Health about specific clinical presentations. We have our team skill sharing sessions where we present clinical frameworks and skills to each other. There are various opportunities to develop wider experience and work in different teams.
Main duties of the job
This post is strategic requiring working across CAMHS and Adult mental health teams to co-develop and deliver transitions pathway.
To participate as a multi-disciplinary team member in the assessment, care coordination, short term treatment of young people and young adults aged between 17 and 25 who have been referred to CAMHS or to the Adult Mental Health Teams
Ensure that excellent recording and reporting of client contact
Work with the teams and clients to maintain a safe therapeutic environment. Work to assure the quality of care through achieving evidence based clinical systems
To maintain and ensure good professional standards and attitudes towards the care and treatment of young people and their families

Essential
- First level nursing qualification/registration RMN or RSCN or HV or Doctorate level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or First level qualification in OT, social work, or equivalent or
- First level qualification in art, drama or music therapy with related experience in the psychological aspects of caring for children and adolescent with mental health problems/needs, developmental/ learning disability problems.
- All applicants will require a professional training and relevant Clinical experience including CAMHS ( or clear evidence of transferable skills) in combination with professional registration with one of the following statutory bodies: the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) , Health Professional's Council (HPC/ HCPC), Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP), social work England or The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
Desirable
- Training in clinical supervision such as ENB 998 or mentorship and or equivalent experience and training.
