We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and innovative clinicians to work within the 3 Borough ADHD and autism service. Applicants need to be registered nurses (RMN/ RNLD). The role includes supporting autism and ADHD diagnostic assessments and triaging referrals made to the service. In addition, you will contribute to multidisciplinary case consultation and educational sessions provided by the team.
There are great opportunities for service development, teaching, and training. The service also offers opportunities to undertake research. A wide range of CPD opportunities are available and the post holder will be supported to develop skills in their areas of interest.
Main duties of the job
The Croydon, Lambeth and Lewisham Adult ADHD and Autism Service (also known as the 3 Borough service) is a local service which can be accessed by any patient registered with a Croydon, Lambeth, or Lewisham General Practitioner (G.P). The service is provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and offers:
- Diagnostic assessment for people suspected of having ADHD and/or and autism.
- Post diagnostic individual and/or group psychological interventions following a positive diagnostic assessment of ADHD and/or Autism within the three Borough service.
- Education for local G.P's and SLaM community staff.
- Initiation and titration of ADHD medication, and ADHD medication reviews.
The team consists of Psychological practitioners, Consultant Psychiatrists, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Assessment Nurses, Occupational Therapist, an Assistant Psychologist and Administrators.
The clinic is part of wider neurodevelopmental services, including national specialist outpatient clinics providing diagnostic assessments, medication and psychological interventions for adults with autism and/or ADHD; the National Autism Unit, an inpatient ward for men with autism and complex mental health or behavioural difficulties; and the Transforming Care in Autism service, supporting the implementation of the Transforming Care policy in Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. There are strong links with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience.

The post holder will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic local specialist service which is involved with on-going research and teaching in the rapidly expanding field of neurodevelopmental disorders.The post holder will work in specialist adult ADHD and ASD services and be involved in the pre - assessment process and in providing post-diagnostic psycho-educational groups to service users. They will demonstrate safe clinical decision-making. The post holder will be able to demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision making process. They will work with the multi-professional team to meet the needs of the service users. To work closely with internal and external stake holders to deliver an effective service to clients referred to the 3Borough Service.

- To act as an advocate for service users.
- To establish effective communication and actively promote health education that may include providing alternative materials to support service users and carers in making decisions regarding their care and treatment.
- To liaise and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team, CCG and CMHTs teams across health and social boundaries.
- To make accurate and effective handovers to MDT.
- To maintain accurate and contemporaneous records of health assessment, implementation and evaluation of management and therapeutic interventions.
