Job summary

We are looking for an experienced occupational therapist to work in day services.

You will require a good understanding of how eating disorders impact on individual's lives and be able to work to promote recovery as defined by the service user. You will bring core skills of an OT using standardised assessment and outcome measures.

There is a strong emphasis on group and individual work focused around social inclusion and recovery. The post holder will be expected to deliver interventions which are contextually relevant and may be carried out in a variety of settings relevant to the service user. The ability to work flexibly is required.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to service development and hold an interest in clinical outcomes and research. You will be encouraged to participate in this as part of your CPD.

Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2). We also provide services and operate across other locations, such as London boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; and substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Lambeth, Greenwich and Wandsworth.

Main duties of the job

To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based / client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. To provide leadership for students and / or junior staff, through supervision and appraisal. To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OT / MDT services, holding responsibility for defined projects. To regularly supervise OT students on practice placements

Job responsibilities

To select and apply Occupational Therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling the service user in areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.

To manage a caseload as agreed with Head OT / Team Lead

To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with the service user using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals

To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for service users with multiple needs in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.

To demonstrate and apply a broad level of understanding of the effect of disability and recommend adaptations to the service users physical and social environment as needed.

To work with service users in a way which actively promotes their social inclusion an recovery.

To effectively work as a member of the multi-disciplinary
