Job summary

Assess and deliver, under supervision outcome focused, evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Work in partnership with parents, young people, and their families, to support children or young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties through the delivery of evidence-based workshops, 1-1 and group interventions. Trainees will be taught in the delivery of evidence-based guided self-help interventions.

Always operate from an inclusive values base, which recognises and respects diversity.

Adhere to an agreed activity schedule relating to the overall number of children and young people contacts offered, and sessions carried out per week in order to improve timely access and minimise waiting times.

Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or children and young people in treatment, where appropriate.Keep coherent records of all activity in line with service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making. Complete all requirements relating to data collection.

Training & Supervision:

Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post including practical, academic, and practice-based assessments. Apply learning from the training programme to practice.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit Trainee Children's Well Being Practitioners (CWPs) in the borough of Southwark who will be part of our core CAMHS Team with work both in-house and within the wider community.

This is a training position and so all candidates will need to apply for both the trainee role with our organisation and the KCL Post Graduate Diploma in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice and meet all requirements in order to be shortlisted (see KCL application guidance attached)

The training posts are designed to equip the post holder to offer high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based Guided Self-Help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

The post holders will attend university based taught tuition and undertake self-study days as specified within the agreed national curriculum, working in the service for the remaining time using newly developed skills. The post holders will also receive supervision from an experienced trained Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) clinician who will support their professional development.   • oUndergraduate degree, upper second class or above, in Psychology OR related subject (e.g., Psychology, Education, Childhood development, Social Work etc), OR any subject with further training or experience in a relevant field (e.g., Teaching/TA; Learning Support; HCA; Youth Work; Counselling etc)

Desirable
