Job summary

Assess and deliver, under supervision outcome focused, evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Work in partnership with parents, young people, and their families, to support children or young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties through delivery of evidence-based workshops, 1-1 and group interventions. Trainees will be taught in the delivery of evidence-based guided self-help interventions.

Always operate from an inclusive values base, recognise and respect diversity.

Adhere to an agreed activity schedule relating to the overall number of children and young people contacts offered, and sessions carried out per week in order to improve timely access and minimise waiting times.

Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or children and young people in treatment, where appropriate.Keep coherent records of all activity in line with service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making. Complete all data collection requirements.

Training & Supervision:

Fulfil all requirements of the training element of the post including practical, academic, and practice-based assessments. Apply learning from the training programme to practice. In addition to regular clinical supervision that supports professional development, trainees will receive supervision from educational providers related to course work to meet required standards.

Main duties of the job

About the role:

We are looking to recruit Trainee Children's Well Being Practitioners (CWPs) in the borough of Croydon who will be part of our core CAMHS Team with work both in-house and within the wider community. You will be trained in offering high-quality, brief outcome focused evidence-based Guided Self-Help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

All candidates will need to apply for both the trainee role with our organisation and the KCL Post Graduate Diploma in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice and meet all requirements in order to be shortlisted (see KCL application guidance attached)Upon successful completion of this diploma applicants are eligible to register with the British Psychosocial Society as qualified Child Wellbeing Practitioner.

The post holder will attend all KCL based taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed national curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.
