This job is now closed

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established liaison psychiatry service at St Thomas' Hospital and the Psycho-oncology Support Team (POST) based at The Cancer Centre at Guy's Hospital.

St Thomas' liaison psychiatry has been undergoing expansion in services with support from NHS England and this liaison post will strengthen the Urgent and Emergency Care pathway, as well as supporting the expanding liaison psychiatry service across acute hospital wards. It is part of a development to bring the service to an 'Enhanced 24' service specification, and the ambition ultimately is to transform GSTT liaison service to a fully 'Comprehensive' liaison psychiatry team.

Main duties of the job

The main clinical component of the job (7PAs) is to provide liaison services to the Emergency Department and wards at St Thomas' Hospital.

The POST sessions involve both face-to-face and virtual outpatient clinics.

The post holder is responsible for supervision of a junior doctor and will contribute to the provision of training to the liaison team and to staff from the acute trust.

About us

The post holder will be employed by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, but also be expected to hold an honorary clinicalcontract with Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, as a King's Health Partners 'passport'.
