You must be a qualified RMN, LD Nurse or Acute Nurse in the final year of your RMN/LD/RGN course. It's important that you have an understanding of multidisciplinary services and the challenges that older adults face from their mental health problems.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver high quality safe nursing care, ensuringconsistently high standards of practice and clinical excellence which comply with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct.
The role includes leading the delivery of comprehensive service userassessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of person-centred care in a collaborative way. The post holder will co-ordinate a first classservice that includes assessment and monitoring of physical health,maintaining service users rights, supervising junior staff and students, working collaboratively with the Multi-Disciplinary Team and maintaining a safe and therapeutic working environment and accurate records.Band 5 nursing roles are only open only to staff with a nursing registration, obtained as a result of completing a qualification recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

The Psychological Medicine and Older Adult Directorateof the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals with a genuine interest in working with acute mentally ill elderly clients to complement our highly skilled, professional nursing team in one of our Specialist Care Units based in Streatham.
Greenvale is a specialist care unit for patients over 65 with a diagnosis of Dementia and/or Challenging Behaviour. They are often physically unwell and need supportive physical care. Greenvale is a mid-term assessment and treatment unit and service users are encouraged towards independent living with interventions that address the physical and mental health aspects of the person. The Unit has 22 beds and a staffing establishment of 32 including medical, psychology and therapy services.

Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2).
