Job summary
We are pleased to be recruiting to an 8a Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist post (1.0 wte) to join our well-established, cohesive multi-orientation psychological therapies team. This post holder will have good experience of the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy approach and we are looking for someone who is interested in working as part of our senior leadership team, taking on leadership opportunities as well as line managing and supervising two Band 7 psychologists. The post holder will have an interest in working with complex, comorbid, secondary care anxiety and depression presentations. Development opportunities: There are rich CPD opportunities within the team for example including reflective practice and complex case discussion. There are good Trust-wide CPD opportunities, and the team is supportive of specialist training relevant to the post.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work alongside other Clinical/Counselling Psychologists delivering specialist assessment and interventions primarily using CBT, as well as other psychotherapy staff delivering Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. In addition to line management and supervision of Band 7 psychologists, the post holder will contribute to the senior leadership team as well as undertaking liaison work with a dedicated CMHT, including consultation.
Flexible working:
There are some opportunities for virtual working, but most of the work requires on-site presence. The role involves clinical working between the hours of 9 to 5pm, and the essential team day is on Wednesdays. We welcome applications from people interested in flexible working arrangements.

The team provides assessment, consultation and psychological therapy for adults with complex mental health difficulties across the Borough of Croydon. It comprises a dedicated and well-established team of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists and Psychotherapists in Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy providing therapy as well as working closely with CMHTS, linking in to provide consultation, reflective practice, teaching, supervision and co-working.
About our locations:
The team is based in central Croydon (Jeanette Wallace House) and face-to-face sessions are provided at this base and at other Croydon sites. We are walking distance from East Croydon station with quick links to London. There are good bus, rail and tram links. There is no parking at Jeanette Wallace House.

- Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology or equivalent) that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration
- Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist, and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC
Desirable
- Additional training in Schema Focussed Therapy or other relevant training
- Additional practitioner qualification in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
- Training in clinical supervision
