Southwark CAMHS - Full time (10 PAs) Fixed Term Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatry posts - for 1 year, pending approval of permanent positions by the Royal College of Psychiatrists

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists to join Southwark CAMHS. These posts have been created following retirement of one colleague and additional new investment into the service.

Southwark CAMHS provides a comprehensive range of community-based child and adolescent mental health services across the London Borough of Southwark. The service also has access to National and Specialist services provided at the Michael Rutter Centre, as well as inpatient facilities and enhanced community-based crisis services.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint two Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists for the following two roles:

Post 1 - Consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist with the generic CAMH team (currently divided into two teams, Child and Family team for children <12 and adolescent team for young people >12). This is a full-time fixed term Locum Consultant post based at Mapother House. Approval from the Royal College of Psychiatrists for the permanent position will be sought.

Post 2 - Consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist with the Assertive Outreach/crisis team at Mapother House. The post holder will also provide cover for the MDT at the King's Paediatric Liaison Service and will be based at King's College Hospital one day a week. Approval from the Royal College of Psychiatrists for the permanent position will be sought.

The teams comprise staff from a variety of disciplines including psychiatry, psychology, nursing, family therapy, art psychotherapy, occupational therapy and social work.

Much of the work is carried out at the clinic base, but home and other community visits are offered when needed.

The Paediatric liaison service at Kings Colle Hospital offers assessments, including risk assessment and management to children and young people presenting following a mental health crisis at Kings.
